Careers at Speassy

Build the future of
language learning

We're a small, passionate team that ships fast, cares deeply about learners, and speaks a combined 11 languages between us (and counting).

No open roles right now

We're not actively hiring at the moment — but we're growing quickly and that changes. Drop us your details and we'll reach out when something that matches your skills opens up. No newsletters, no spam, just a heads-up when we're ready.

What we look for

We hire for these traits,
not just job titles

🔭

Curiosity

You ask why before you ask how. You read the Wikipedia article, the paper behind it, and the footnotes. You're a learner first.

🪚

Craftsmanship

You notice the 2px that's off. You lose sleep over copy that could be clearer. You care about the details because users notice, even when they don't notice.

🤝

Empathy

You sit with the user's frustration before you propose a fix. You don't mistake confidence for competence — in yourself or others.

🏃

Ownership

You finish things. You follow up. You push the commit, write the test, and close the ticket. Done is a feature.

Life at Speassy

What working here looks like

🌏

Fully remote

Our team is in Warsaw, Tokyo, Medellín, Seoul, and Cape Town. We collaborate async-first with deep work blocks that no one disturbs.

📚

Learners welcome

Every employee gets a Speassy teacher budget. We expect you to learn at least one language while you work here. We'll help you do it.

🚀

Ship early, ship often

We deploy multiple times a week. We write small PRs, review fast, and trust each other to own outcomes — not process.

💬

Direct feedback

We say what we think, kindly. No performance review surprises. No politics. If something isn't working, we fix it in the open.

⚖️

Work–life balance

We have no "always on" culture. Evenings and weekends are yours. We measure output, not hours — and we mean it.

🎯

Mission-driven

Every feature we build connects more people across language barriers. The work has meaning beyond the product. That keeps us going.

When we do hire

Our hiring process

1

Application review

We read every application. We reply to every one, even the no's. Usually within a week.

2

Intro call — 30 min

A casual conversation with a team member. We want to understand who you are, not grill you.

3

Skills exercise

A short, paid, real-world task. Nothing over 3 hours. We respect your time.

4

Team interviews — 2×45 min

Meet two teammates. Ask us hard questions. We want the conversation to go both ways.

Stay in the loop

Not the right time? Let's stay in touch.

Send us your CV and a note about what you're great at. When a role opens up that fits, you'll be the first to know — not someone from a recruitment agency.
